Yep, my Father's Day present started in Nevada and had to go through California to get back to Nevada. Thanks Amazon!

I didn't know that Amazon had its own shipping company!

The route makes a lot of sense if the package used a major shipping company like UPS Ground. Such a shipment would go through the major hubs in the system before reaching Sparks.

Things shipped Fed Ex often do bizarre things like fly out to a hub in Tennessee between spokes in NYC and Washington DC.

The spokes/hub shipping system is more efficient than having dedicated trucks running between each destination.

BTW: Did you know that there isn't an Interstate Highway between Reno and Las Vegas?
